Looking for the Scottish SPCA to help you with your research project?

Gilly dog musicEvery year we have many students looking to undertake research projects with us as part of their further education degrees. 

If you would like the Scottish SPCA to support your research project please email a full project proposal to education@scottishspca.org

Please note that the Scottish SPCA will only consider non-invasive projects that would be of benefit to the Scottish SPCA and towards animal welfare in general. All project proposals must include the following details:

  • Course details - name of degree and institution registered at
  • Key aims of project 
  • Details of how the project will be of benefit to the Scottish SPCA and towards animal welfare in general
  • Species required for project (if applicable)
  • Number of animals required (if applicable)
  • Proposed start date for data collection 
  • Proposed period of data collection 
  • Proposed location of data collection 
  • Date of when results will be made available to the Scottish SPCA  

Each project proposal will be discussed by the Society’s research committee which meets three times a year. Project proposals must be submitted by the following dates to be considered so please take this into account when planning your submission:

  • 1st February
  • 1st June
  • 1st October

Here are examples of previous research that has been conducted by some fantastic students in collaboration with caar (Children, Adolescents and Animals Research group) at the University of Edinburgh and the University of Glasgow.
