The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after a cat was found abandoned on East Dock Street in Dundee.

Cat abandoned in Dundee

We were notified by a member of the public who discovered the grey and white cat in a carrier on 22 August.

Senior animal rescue officer Ben Soutar said, “The male cat was found in a fabric carrier by the gates of the Explore Bus Garage.

“When we arrived, we examined the cat and found him to be in a lean condition.

“The cat is quite distinctive. He is grey and white with green eyes.

“We are keen to find the person or persons responsible for abandoning this animal.

“If anyone has any information, we would urge them to call our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”

Abandoning an animal is an offence under the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006. Anyone found guilty of doing so can expect to be banned from keeping animals for a fixed period or life.
