Every year we get many calls from members of the public concerned about swooping gulls.

It is normal behaviour for  gulls to become aggressive when trying to protect their fledgling young or nests. Once nesting season has finished the gulls will move on.

What can I do about a swooping gull?

Should the gulls pose a risk to public safety please contact your local council.

As a temporary measure we would suggest using an open umbrella as a deterrent when leaving your property if they are nesting near your home.

If a gull or one of its young is injured please call our animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
